The Hatchery

Cool, crystal clear water--where wild salmon roam.

The falls where the wild salmon are taken. To the right is the "chute". The water is really shallow at the bottom of the falls so the salmon can't get deep enough to propel themselves to jump up. There is a cement pad at the bottom of the falls to make sure it stays shallow. Since the fish can't jump, they are forced to go up the chute.

After they are caught, the salmon get a ride up the hill to the hatchery on Jerry's four wheeler.

These guys get pretty excited on the trip to the hatchery and they get to calm down in a bath of medicine. They're really strong, and if they aren't relaxed it's impossible to hold on to them!
